Bond Falls is an absolute sight to see any time of the year. But in the winter, it takes on a whole new frosty landscape.
This is by far our most visited waterfall, and our favorite time to visit is actually in the winter! The area is technically "closed" during the winter, but you can still go and enjoy the waterfall and hike around it!
The main parking area at the bottom of the falls is gated off in the winter. You can park near the gate and hike down the hill from there. This is the easiest and safest way to view the main, lower waterfall. Be sure to walk around the boardwalk to see the different views. The paths are not maintained in the winter, but are usually packed down and easy to walk.
To view the upper areas of the falls, you can continue up the side taking the stairs. But be warned...these stairs become extremely iced over and dangerous as the winter progresses. For the safest way to view the upper areas, we recommend parking by the Bond Falls Outpost and walking from there.
Bond Falls is one of those places that you can go and spend a few minutes at...or all day! There is a lot to see here, it just depends on how adventurous you want to be.
Location: Bond Falls is located near Paulding in the Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Location and directions can be found on Google Maps.
